Lu & Liv Series

Waterproof Dog Collars Built for Real Life

If you've ever picked up your dog's collar after a beach day — soggy, starting to smell, pulling at the stitching — you know the problem with most dog collars. Nylon absorbs water. Leather cracks when it dries. Even the "premium" options are just treating waterproofing as an afterthought.

We built Lu & Liv around a different material: silicone. True silicone — not a nylon collar with a water-resistant coating. Silicone doesn't absorb water. It doesn't hold odors. It doesn't fade, crack, or fray after a season of real use. You rinse it under the tap and it looks new.

What makes Lu & Liv different from every other waterproof collar on the market? The aesthetic. Most waterproof dog collar brands choose durability over design — they make something tough and call it a day. We refused that trade-off. Our collars are silicone and beautiful, featuring original in-house prints inspired by the Lowcountry, Grand Millennial interiors, and traditional pattern design.

Think: toile, chinoiserie, botanical motifs, needlepoint-inspired prints — the kind of patterns you'd put on a pillow or a piece of upholstered furniture. On a collar that can go straight into the surf.

Frequently Asked Questions

Unlike nylon or woven collars that have water-resistant coatings (which wear off), silicone is a non-porous material that doesn't absorb water at all. Our collars can be submerged, rinsed, and worn wet without damage, stretching, or odor retention.

Yes. Silicone is used in medical devices, food-grade cookware, and baby products specifically because it's non-toxic, hypoallergenic, and safe for skin contact. It's gentle on a dog's coat and won't cause the neck irritation that stiff nylon can produce.

Absolutely. That's one of the best arguments for a silicone collar — no need to remove it during baths or swims. Just rinse along with your dog and air dry.

Rinse under warm water and wipe down with a damp cloth. For heavier grime, mild dish soap and a soft brush. No soaking, no machine washing needed — and no smell after.

Biothane is a great material — coated polyester that's very durable. Our silicone collars offer similar waterproof performance with one key difference: they carry original print designs. Biothane is almost always sold in solid colors. If you want a waterproof collar that's also visually distinctive, silicone wins.
