Our Provenance

We made dog gear that belongs in a beautiful home.

If you've ever looked at your dog's collar and thought, "this doesn't go with anything I own" — you're not alone. That was us.

We wanted dog accessories that felt intentional. Beautiful enough to be in a photograph. Tough enough for an actual dog's actual life. Designed with the same care we put into everything else in our homes.

We looked around and found a lot of things that were pretty but wouldn't survive a swim. Or durable but looked like they came in a multipack. Or "designer" in price but not in spirit.

So we decided to make them ourselves.

The Problem With Most Dog Collars

Most dog collar brands make one of two bets: pretty, or practical. They design for the photo or for the trail, and they rarely overlap.

Nylon collars get muddy, smell like dog after one walk, and fade fast. Leather looks beautiful until it hits water. And the "designer" options — the ones that really look like something — often cost $150 for a piece of canvas with a logo.

We found our whitespace: a collar that looks like something you'd find at an interior design shop and holds up like something you'd find in a gear review.

Why Silicone

Silicone is the material that changed our minds about what dog accessories could be.

It's waterproof — not water-resistant, waterproof. It doesn't absorb odors. It doesn't fray or crack. You can wipe it down with a wet cloth and it looks new. It's gentle on a dog's coat and holds color beautifully, which meant we could finally put real print designs on a collar that could survive real life.

Most silicone dog collars are solid colors. We're changing that.

Designed in Charleston

Lu & Liv is based in Charleston, South Carolina — and the city shows up in everything we make.

The Lowcountry is one of the most visually distinct places in America. Palmetto trees and Spanish moss. Pastel row houses and wrought iron gates. Indigo and oyster and the particular color of afternoon light through a live oak. We're drawing on all of it.

Our prints are designed in-house. Original artwork, rooted in the Lowcountry, designed for dogs who live anywhere.

What We're Building

At launch, we'll offer dog collars and leashes in original silicone prints — starting with a small first collection of designs we've been developing with our design team.

In the traditional patterns space — toile, chinoiserie, botanicals, needlepoint-inspired motifs — we're building something that no one else in the pet accessories market is doing. We're not chasing trends. We're building something with a point of view.
